The Burning House includes a gypsy wedding, a ghostly cat, a chimney sweep (in drag, no less) and a fiery conflagration. Written in 1776 by F.J. Haydn for Prince Esterhazy’s Royal Marionette Theater, the Carter Family Marionettes restore this piece (lost for nearly 200 years) to its 18th century splendor, featuring opera singers, a chamber orchestra, and hand-carved and extravagantly costumed marionettes.
