The Yellow Wallpaper

About the Show

Published in 1899, Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper exposes the cracks in the ordinary
facade of a woman (a wife and mother) who, seemingly happy enough in her marriage, gradually succumbs to the despair just beneath the surface. Sent to a country house to recuperate from nervous anxiety, she develops an unhealthy obsession with the yellow wallpaper that decorates her “recovery room” and withdraws farther and farther from the husband who tries, in his well-meaning yet controlling way, to save her. The production is adapted & directed by Heather Newman.

There is no performance on Saturday, April 5, and an added matinee on Sunday, April 13th at 2pm.
