Gustavo Schartz

Born in Argentina, started playing and performing at a young age, with a passion for traditional music from the Americas. In 1997, without knowing about BVSC, he spent several months in Havana, Cuba, learning traditional Son from the local masters. Upon arrival in New York, Gustavo worked as a sideman and band leader with some of the most prominent Cuban musicians, including David Oquendo, Paquito D’Rivera, Pedrito Martinez, Jose Fajardo. Gustavo is so happy to be part of Buena Vista Social Club™!
