Saoirse-Monica Jackson is an Irish actress, best known for her starring role as Erin Quinn in Channel 4’s “Derry Girls.”

Saoirse made her television debut in 2016, where she was seen in in the British mystery thriller series “The Five,” written by Danny Brocklehurst. In 2017, Saoirse was seen in BBC One’s “Broken,” a drama series about a well-respected Catholic priest presiding over a large parish on the outskirts of a major city in northern England.

2018 saw Saoirse star in Jez Butterworth’s critically acclaimed The Ferryman. Set during The Troubles, the play followed the story of the family of a former IRA activist, living in their farmhouse in rural County Armagh in 1981. Saoirse was seen as Shena Carney.

2018 also saw Saoirse take the lead role in Channel 4’s critically acclaimed Irish comedy “Derry Girls.” Written by Lisa McGee, the sitcom is set in Derry, Northern Ireland, during The Troubles in the 1990s where Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), her cousin and their friends attend a Catholic girls’ secondary school. “Derry Girls” returned for a second series in 2019, and the third season was released in Spring 2022.

Saoirse’s film credits include Finding You, a romantic comedy based on the young adult novel There You’ll Find Me. The film follows a New York musician who travels to an Irish coastal village to begin a semester studying abroad, where she falls in love with a film star who has just begun filming for his latest project. Saoirse stars as Emma Callaghan and the film was released in May 2021.

In 2023, Saoirse starred in The Flash, a highly anticipated superhero film based on the eponymous DC Comics character by DC Films. Saoirse can be seen alongside Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck, Kiersey Clemons and Ron Livingston. 2024 saw Saoirse join the cast of Upgraded, a romantic comedy directed by Carlson Young. This film follows Ana (Camila Mendes), an aspiring art trainee, attempting to follow her dream and the struggles she faces when trying to balance her future career and the attention of a new man. Saoirse plays Amy her colleague.

Saoirse was also seen starring in Paramount+’s thriller, “The Doll Factory,” the story of a girl named Iris who enters a world of dark obsession when she is given the opportunity to start a new life. This film is an adaption of the bestselling novel by Elizabeth Macneal and was directed by Sacha Polak and Cathy Brady and produced by Buccaneer Media.

In 2024, Saoirse starred in Netflix’s black comedy series “The Decameron,” based on the famous collection of witty and tragic short stories by 14th century Italian author, Giovanni Boccaccio. Set in 1348 when the Black Death strikes Florence, a handful of nobles are invited to retreat with their servants to a grand villa in the Italian countryside and await the pestilence with a lavish holiday. However, as social rules wear thin, what starts as a wine-soaked romp in the hills of Tuscany descends into an all-out for scramble survival. Saoirse starred as Misia, a servant to Pampinea (Zosia Mamet) and was also seen alongside Arrested Development’s Tony Hale, Karan Gill, Lou Galaand and Amar Chadha-Patel.

Early 2025 will see Saoirse star in the BBC drama “This City Is Ours.” Set and filmed in Liverpool, “This City Is Ours” is the story of Michael, a longtime member of organised crime, who is now revaluating his life choices and future beyond crime after falling in love. The series is set to explore the themes of love, ambition, pride and greed. Saoirse will be seen starring alongside Sean Bean, Stephen Walters, and Laura Aikman.
